We are beginning our Engineering Unit today where students will begin to understand what engineers do and how their jobs help people in our community each day. You child will be building a few prototypes in the upcoming month and learn the steps of the Engineering Design Process. One of those prototypes will be to design a candy bag. Our class is looking for 8 (1 pound) bags of candy as donations to help with the testing of these prototypes. If you are able to donate, please send in the 1 pound bags by Wednesday, October 11th. Thank you in advance for your help. :)
We are done with the spelling tests for this quarter. We will be back on our normal spelling routine after we return from Fall Break. We are replacing spelling with our nouns grammar skill this week for writing. We are working on Language Arts IXL B.1-B.13. Most students should have finished up to B.3. We will be working on them daily in class and at home for homework. Please help your child pace themselves to have all of them completed by this Friday, October 6th.
We only have 1 week left of Quarter 1. Students' Accelerated Reader and Accelerated Math requirements are 20 points/objectives and an 85% accuracy or higher. Students who are severely behind in their work will need to spend some extra time during recess to get caught up. Please discuss this with your child and also spend some extra time this week making sure that their points are where they should be. Students who earn their points and percentages will have an incentive at the end of Quarter 1.
Parent teacher conference forms will be coming out this week. Please check the time that your are available to conference and return them ASAP. Also, picture day will be on October 11th and Math Night will be on October 12th starting at 5:00 p.m. As always, please send me a DOJO message or email me at awaitkoff@lsc.k12.in.us if you have and questions. I can also be contacted by phone at 765-771-6150. Have a great week!
